My wife bought me the Garmin Forerunner 301 for Christmas. I had wanted only a heart rate monitor, but this GPS device was a pleasant surprise! It works wonderful. It is simple in design and in ease of use. It appears slightly bulky, but when I wore it on my run, it didn't bother me. In fact the large screen was easy to read. I mainly do 5K runs, so it's not like I'm wearing it for an extended period of time either. But all in all, for what I use it for, it exceeds my expectations!Garmin Handlebar mount

SkyGolf SG3 and SG4 Leather Case
The case does not protect the screen which is the part of the unit most in need of protection. Secondly, the unit must be removed from the case to charge the SG4 because it does not contain an entry hole for the connection of the charger. Thirdly, the belt clip places the unit in a position to be distractive during your swing, and using it is a good way to lose an expensive piece of equipment.Suggestion: Save your money and look at after-market products for 1/2 the price that are better designed and made of more functional materials.SkyGolf SG3 and SG4 Leather Case
Olight M20 Flashlight Red Filter Lens Cap
If you've got an Olight and enjoy stargazing, or hunting, or other activities requiring colored filters, Olight's red is a must. Also consider the green. High quality glass filters in a rubber holder. Cons: filters are somewhat easier to fall from the flashlight when striking bezel is left on, but they still stay on ok. Total light power reduced (don't expect 700 lumens in red or green), but then again, the filter is there to limit a portion of the spectrum, so it's only natural that overall light intensity would drop (if not, I would distrust the filter!). Highly recommendable.Olight M20 Flashlight Red Filter Lens Cap

Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Color High-Sensitivity Mapping Handheld GPS(010-00630-00)
This is not a bundle, I bought it thinking it was one like a bundle they have at some places. It's a good unit but Its just the GPS and dose not include the maps.Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Color High-Sensitivity Mapping Handheld GPS(010-00630-00)
Bushnell Onix400 GPS XM Receiver
This unit may or may not end up being useful, but the getting started curve is way too high.First, it is not Mac compatible. If you plug the USB port into a Mac, it won't recognize or mount it. The internal memory is an SD card, so you could probably plug it into an outboard SD card reader; I haven't tried that, not having a reader handy. The product box and literature doesn't say "PC Only" anywhere that I saw.
Second, the map download interface is clumsy and simply doesn't work. You outline a map area, save it to some kind of browser pseudo-folder, drag that into a download box, and click download. Nothing happens. You then read the on-line help, which says to turn off popup blocking. Do it all again, and you'll get a popup telling you to please select some sort of directory first. (And it suggests the wrong one, if you're running Vista or WIn7.) And that's it. Poof. No download, no files, no place to select directories, nothing. (This is using Firefox, I refuse to use IE for simple web browsing.) And, just to piss you off, the "Contact Us" emailer from the downloader page produces a "no such email address" message after you've typed in your message and clicked send.
The unit itself seems a bit slow, and responds erratically to the arrow buttons; sometimes the left and right buttons don't seem to work. The battery life seems poor, I ran it down halfway just playing with it for an hour.
So far, it's been a dud.Bushnell Onix400 GPS XM Receiver

SkyGolf Travel Case
A good case for the money. Holds my SG4 unit, charger and clip as promised. Foam padding keeps unit safe while traveling. Gives a great place to store unit in off season. Very happy with product and price. Many golf stores are no longer selling this case - only available on line.SkyGolf Travel Case
Garmin eTrex Vista Handheld GPS Navigator
I've had this model for awhile now. I like it better than the Foretrex models. I like it better than the basic Etrex models. It can do a variety of format datum that allows flexibility of use.
It is very accurate, dependable, takes abuse, and is waterproof. It uses two AA batteries and does not eat them up like other GPS's. The field tab areas are customizable in navigation mode to suit it how you like. The blacklight feature is not to bright and a nice feature.
The "thumb" button is a nice feature to have to scroll around rather than the other etrex lower base models that you have to scroll around by side buttons. So the thumb button is very nice especially when inputting data settings or waypoints.
The auto configure feature of locating the satellites when you turn it on is nice because you can take a trip and have it automatically update your current location without getting into manual settings for regions.
You can take clear packing tape and cut it to the shape of the GPS screen and roll it on to make a protective coating for the screen that costs nothing.
Cons:
The retaining strap is hooked to a small piece of plastic at it's base that can break if some hard pressure is applied. I wouldn't dangle it by the retention cord all the time. It can get broken easily if abused in this area.
Fix: if it does break, drill a small hole into the battery cavity past the broken plastic strip and knot a piece of nylon cord / melt the end and pass the cord through the tight hole for a new retention cord that is stronger than the original. You can silicone it shut with some automotive silicone. This will allow you to keep it for trail hiking, have a stronger retention cord, and keep it secure.Garmin eTrex Vista Handheld GPS Navigator
Lowrance Endura Safari 000-0125-39 2.7-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Very accurate GPS lock out of the box. The 3D compass is a great help. Touchscreen and menus are pretty easy to use but like any new product, it takes a little bit to learn where everything is or how to set it up. Not difficult, just different.Lowrance Endura Safari 000-0125-39 2.7-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracking System
Purchased this product before heading to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. Helped me keep track of my dog's location and her activities even when I couldn't see her. With all of the crops still standing in the field, a Brittany disappears quite quickly in 10 foot corn and sunflower fields. The unit worked well, always giving me a read on her. The only problem I had with the unit was that there is a 5 second delay between information updates, and that interval can be too long when the hunting is going at a fevered pitch. The product seems to be well made and well thought out. It does the job it says it does.Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracking System

OnPar Golf Touchscreen GPS
All the 1 star reviews are bringing down the image of this great product, and all because their favorite courses were unavailable when they bought it a year ago. They should have reviewed the available courses at the onPar site, which is what I recommend any potential purchaser to do. Now, 13,000 courses are mapped, similar to all other similarly priced GPS devices.I received this as a gift from my wife and it took about one round to get used to using the club marking function, pretty simple to use once you realize you just hit the white ball where you are to show the club distance. Then you just click the black box where it shows the club and distance and adjust the club if is different form the recommended club. Easier to use than explain.
Once you finish your round, you hook it up to the computer (if you want, you don't have to), and you can review your shots with the Mojo report and it will show you a "google map" version of your round with review totals and clubs listed above. I think there is only room to improve here. And the stats that are stored in the device are easy to read and understand, as well as being helpful. It can be a little confusing on how to upload the data online to be reviewed on the mojo report. You have to click the "sync" button which makes you feel like you are going to download courses, even though that isn't your intention, then you just click it, and you can see that a checkbox will come up that has courses AND stats and scores, just "unclick" the courses and then sync away.
The best part about this product so far has been the customer service for me. During only my second round and during a small tournament I organized, I dropped my onPar GPS and it landed right on the cart path. The screen fractured and my heart sank (I did not have the gel coating on it or use the included lanyard, which I recommend for each of you to avoid losing a couple hundred bucks). I called the company, and knowing that this was normal wear and tear and not under warranty, I plead my case. They offered me a refurbished unit at a discounted rate. I called on a Saturday, which is not normal business hours for them, but they emailed me back within 10 minutes. After a short email conversation, I was instructed on what to do.
I called them the following business day, and was met with the very nice customer service/support department. After hearing my story, they even threw in a belt clip for free so something like this would not happen again. A very thoughtful and unexpected surprise. Awesome!!
I can't wait to get back to using this cool gadget. For the short time I had it, the statistics function was easy to use. It was dead on accurate for my courses in Long beach, Palm Springs and San Diego. And it gets a lot of attention from the golfing group. I can't recommend it enough. I have not used any other handheld GPS devices, and I'm sure others have great features, but I just want to let anybody know who is purchasing this unit, they will not be disappointed. Especially if you can find it closer to 300 bucks. I also love the no fees and no subscription. That was the original reason that I looked into this unit. And the scorecard is very easy to use. Complete package!OnPar Golf Touchscreen GPS

Sonocaddie Smart Cart Mount Cup Holder
This was the product that was shown on Amazon. It was not the product that was shipped. The product that was shipped would not work for the purpose intended, i.e. the Sonocaddie golf GPS would not be visible when in the mount in a golf cart cup holder. Mount Guys kept asking me why it wouldn't work and said that they had sold these before to be used with the Sonocaddie. However, they provided a credit to my credit card and didn't ask for the product back. You tell me how good the product was! Again, don't buy from Mount Guys!!Sonocaddie Smart Cart Mount Cup Holder
Garmin eTrex Handheld GPS with Hunting and Fishing Calculator
I was very impressed with this product. It works well for what we need it for. As far as the UPS shipping goes, is there a way you could just mail it out via the Post Office? With the UPS, I had to wait 3 extra days to meet up the UPS guy to receive the GPS, as I was out when he delievered all 3 times. That would be my only comment/question. Otherwise, thanks!
